Victor’s Bio

Your major: Journalism

Your hometown: Taylorsville

Where do you live now? Salt Lake City

What are you passionate about? I want to be Batman!

What is your favorite class (or classes) at SLCC? Humanities and acting. I just always wanted to take both of these, seemed really interesting, even crazy – especially acting. Also, they both turned out to be rewardingly challenging classes that pushed me into unfamiliar skills and knowledge, and stand out because of that as the ones that helped me grow the most.

Which actor/actress would play you in your life movie? People have said to me I look like Benizio DelToro with certain haircuts, and I can hear the similarities of my accent and his voice in certain roles, although I feel like he’s way too tall. But I also love Pedro Pascal, and think he’s super likable and able to portray my day dreaming, mild, and pensive side.

Where do you see yourself in five years? I see myself having graduated from a 4-year college, possibly in another state. Living a different life. Having a job in the communications or broadcasting industry. Being secure, stable and happy.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be? I would have the ability to immediately learn any skill upon trying it. Because I love learning new things but it just takes so long!

Something about you that other people would be surprised to know: I like musicals and figure skating. That seems to take some people by surprise.

Victor’s Favorites

Favorite musicians and/or artists: It changes, but I have huge respect for musical virtuosos from every genre, and age. I love Vivaldi’s composition, Jimi Hendrix’s iconic voice on his Stratocaster, and Bob Dylan’s layered prose and rhymes.

Favorite TV shows and/or movies: It’s a little basic, and I have had people guess that I like this show, but Breaking Bad is my jam, I have seen every episode multiple times, and I’m a huge nerd about watching critical analysis, and video essays just about the themes of the show. As for my favorite movie OAT, I usually tell people the 1982 BladeRunner, I love the sets, and the effects, the designs of the vehicles and of the background and the whole world is amazing, especially for the FX dark-ages that was the 1980s. Also I love the philosophy it contemplates, and the complicated story it tells.

Favorite sports or sports teams: I don’t watch sports for fun. I played a fair amount of sports growing up, but it was never interesting to me to watch other people play. I like baseball, and I have a Bees hat. So aside from telling people you are a fan, that’s all it takes.

Favorite food: I love sandwiches! There are more local sandwich shops than any other type of restaurant, and I love the laid back atmosphere and the nourishing mood a sandwich brings. You get all the flavors and multifaceted rich variety of textures and scents, of any so called “high culinary experience” in a convenient, cost-effective, practical, delicious foodstuff you could eat standing up on a street corner with no utensils, make yourself in your kitchen with a few ingredients, or have a master chef perfect and deliver a blissful slice of heaven to your pallet.

What’s your favorite place to eat? I love eating in cars. It’s like stepping into your own personal sensory depravation chamber with just you and up to 5 people. It really is the perfect place to talk and it’s like a 2nd home that goes with you everywhere. I love new experiences and new cultures and places as much as anyone else, but sharing food with the people you would let in your car is unparalleled in familiarity, comfort, and intimacy.

What was your favorite cereal as a kid? I’ve never been the type to have brand loyalty. One month I’d have a lengthy love affair, with Cookie Crisp, breakfast every morning before going to school, and suddenly I would snap out it and run away with Coco Puffs for the weekend and have it insatiably for exclusive sustenance, slamming fistful after fistful in a sugar-addled cartoons and passion bender. Juts to shamelessly cheat again with something completely different like Lucky Charms, the next Monday, once I had exhausted the contents of its box, leaving it thoroughly spent and used.
