Elias’s Bio

Your major: My major at Salt Lake Community College is Journalism and Digital Media. I plan on graduating by next year.

Your hometown: I am from Herriman, Utah.

Where do you live now? I still live in Herriman, Utah.

What are you passionate about? I am very passionate about filmmaking and creating awesome content to share with friends and family members. Ever since I was 11 years old and I got my very first video camera, I have loved capturing moments from my life that were funny, heartwarming, and memorable. Over the years, I have made some short films and an online series. My plan after I graduate Salt Lake Community College is to go to Utah Valley University and get my bachelor’s of science in Digital Cinema.

What is your favorite class (or classes) at SLCC? My favorite classes right now have to be Radio Performance and Production as well as Video Content Creation. I thought I would not enjoy Radio and Production too much, but I am starting to appreciate this class and the learning behind what makes a great radio station and a great DJ. I am excited to continue learning more about this industry and to see how it is applicable to my career path. I enjoy taking the Video Content Creation class because I am learning how to become a great storyteller. I want to make great visual stories and for me to do that, I must know how to use camera equipment and understand what makes the perfect shot.

Which actor/actress would play you in your life movie? If there was an actor that would play me in my own life movie, I would choose Noah Schnapp who plays Will from Stranger Things. He just looks the most like me as a young actor.

Where do you see yourself in five years? I see myself in five years as somebody who lives independent and away from their parents. I still live with mine. I also want to have a successful job and live stable with my future spouse. Yes, I want to get married and possibly start my family around that time.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be? If I could have any superpower, I would choose shooting webs out of my hands and climbing walls. I think it would be really amazing to swing around buildings just like Spider-Man. He is my favorite superhero so that just makes it even better.

Something about you that other people would be surprised to know: I served a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in three countries due to the pandemic. My original assignment was to labor in Belgium and the Netherlands, but then I got temporarily reassigned in the states and served in New York City. I also spoke two different languages in both missions. They were Spanish and Dutch.

Elias’s Favorites

Favorite musicians and/or artists: My favorite musicians have to be Hippo Campus and Arcade Fire. They both produce really good songs and their genre of music is indie rock which I am a big fan of.

Favorite TV shows and/or movies: My favorite TV show at the moment is Community. It takes place at a community college so I needed to start it before coming back to school. I must admit that is a very funny show with great characters and episodes. It is on Netflix and Amazon Prime and I highly recommend watching it.

Favorite sports or sports teams: My favorite sport is probably basketball and I love the Utah Jazz. I would say it is my favorite because all of my older brothers got me into it at a younger age and I still continue to play to this day.

Favorite food: My favorite food is pizza. I am generic, but I really like it and when I went to New York, I grew to appreciate it even more.

What’s your favorite place to eat? My favorite place to eat at is Bucca di Beppo. It is an Italian restaurant located in Salt Lake City and it is really good. They have giant pasts bowls and great ice-cream. I find it to be better than Olive Garden.

What was your favorite cereal as a kid? My favorite cereal as a kid was Captain Crunch. I would eat it a lot and I still do not get sick of it to this day.
