Nadia’s Bio

Your major: Communications

Your hometown: Salt Lake City

Where do you live now? Salt Lake

What are you passionate about? I am fiercely passionate about music, everything from reading or writing it to listening, recording and singing it :)

What is your favorite class (or classes) at SLCC? I have really enjoyed the philosophy classes and teachers I’ve had, and I gotta tell ya its looking like I’m going to really enjoy the various communications classes I’m taking this semester too, lots of hands on learning and being able to use rad equipment to do it with all the while with great teachers leading the charge!

Which actor/actress would play you in your life movie? If I could cast anyone to play my role in life???it would have to be Juliette Lewis. She stars in things like Natural Born Killers (my favorite flick!), she’s just such a doll and always playing alternative types of roles with very strong female leads, take her and add a dash of Audrey Hepburn’s class and you’d get the perfect person to cast yers truely.

Where do you see yourself in five years? Five years from today I hope to Jevus that I’ll be done with school and finally be able to set my gypsy heart free! Hit the road in my ’85 FULL sized Bluebird School Bus (non of that short bus s*i%, go big or go home) for the field trip of a lifetime playing music and meeting more interesting people along the way.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be? Of all the superpowers I’m familiar with, I’d love to have Storm’s. Mother nature encompasses all, you can not avoid her or hide out from her for long???

Something about you that other people would be surprised to know: There’s a tradition I’ve created for myself that maybe something unique and inspiring to yall, every year for my birthday I make sure to go somewhere that I’ve never EVER been before, and yes its gotta be outta state. Usually I make these journeys alone, sometimes a friend or two can join me. My most recent one was spent in Maui with friends, before that was a solo week at the gorgeous Omni Hotel in Austin Texas right smack in the middle of all the action, prior to Austin? Nashville Tennessee baby! Did that one solo status too and so far Nashville still holds the winning title to happiest my soul has ever felt in one place.

Nadia’s Favorites

Favorite musicians and/or artists: Oh my oh my what a LoAdEd question! Favorite musicians? For someone THIS passionate about music? How much time do you got? I love everything from real punk rock to metal, opera to country, lets not forget about jazz and the blues..what I really been diggin on most recently will probably be the best subject to touch on before I end up writing a book???been lovin’ my old school classic rock and roll, especially the female artists like Joan Jett (who was recently here and my number one lady rocker icon), Blondie, Heart. I’ve also been listenin to lots of the rat pack, Frank Sinatra and other gents in his era. Gotta love that old big band swing and lets not forget about the folk music either! Now it aint probably the country (gross new pop country) or kinda folk music yer thinkin when ya read this, I’m talkin old timey sorta creepy that gets those goose bumps really goin kinda jams. Cream of the crop? The real boot stompin whiskey drinkin type of gold ;)

Favorite TV shows and/or movies: Well now Natural Born Killers is my ultimate FAVORITE movie!! Love, hittin the road with yer man at yer side and causing whatever mayhem that you g*d d$m# well please along the way ! Enjoy the heck outta Oh Brother Where Art Thou too, all the country bumpkinin about hah! As for shows, I been really into Nashville of course for all its musical elements, what I was mainly impressed by was the actors singin are really them singing. You get a look into the music scene from not only the artist’s perspective but producing and touring as well and while I wait for the new season I’ve been Netflixin’ Shameless (the US version). I find it absolutely hilarious and with every turn of the way I’m like “really? is this happening? hahaha!!”

Favorite sports or sports teams: Not the biggest fan of sports really unless they are extreme sports like Snowboarding, looooove to board! But I sure do enjoy going to live sports games, much more entertaining to me than watchin’ “the game” on the good ol’ boob tube.

Favorite food: Huh, favorite food is a tricky one to answer when yer already hangry (you know, when your so hungry you become irritable and angry..the hungry anger i.e. hanger) but I’d have to say if I could eat a giant bowl of something right now, it would be cheese stuffed tortellini’s with Alfredo sauce, chicken, mushrooms, onions and don’t forget the broccoli???yes, I want broccoli chicken Alfredo tortellini’s! Mmmm, and sour dough garlic bread, order up?

What’s your favorite place to eat? THE REST! Hands down its probably one of my favorite places to be in Utah all together, a newer joint modeled after old New York and the speak easy’s of her time. Everything in that place reminds me of my own type of style but to the MaX ! From its old antique pieces, to the candles and bones on the walls, creepy art unique to each table, they’ve even got an area that you’d swear was Sherlock Holmes’ personal study. The food is fantastic and the drinks are stiffer than you’d think they could go for being in Utah and all. Although a bit on the pricey side, its a wonderful way to spend an evening all dolled up classy like with the gang, located on Main St. downtown underneath the Bodega ;)

What was your favorite cereal as a kid? Cracklin’ Oat Bran if you can believe that, yup even as a kid. That dang cereal is so expensive its still a precious treat when I get some, mama always loooved it too.
