Beca’s Bio
Your major: Journalism
Your hometown: Newport Beach, California
Where do you live now? West Jordan, Utah
What are you passionate about? I am very passionate about writing. Ever since I could remember I have always turned my thoughts onto paper. Not only is it a form of therapy that has allowed me to convey certain emotions, but it has also allowed me to express my creativity as a writer.
What is your favorite class (or classes) at SLCC? I am currently only taking 2 classes, both which are very interesting, but one of my favorite classes that I have taken at SLCC was my very first journalism class: journalism 1. This is the class that taught me what it takes to be a true journalist, and I am very grateful to have taken this class.
Which actor/actress would play you in your life movie? A more feminine and younger version of Tom Wolfe, my favorite writer.
Where do you see yourself in five years? I see myself, hopefully, with a bachelor’s degree in journalism working towards getting my master’s, working as an assistant editor-in-chief of SLUG Magazine. And of course, interning at AP Magazine.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be? Time Traveler: I would want to travel back in time and relive all of my favorite memories, not to do them over again, but to enjoy and savor the moments I once lived-relive the nostalgic feelings.
Something about you that other people would be surprised to know: It took me 5 tries to get my driver’s license in high school. I know I’m not the best driver, but I know I’m not the worst.
Beca’s Favorites
Favorite musicians and/or artists: I’m a Rock and Reggae Junky! I grew up on classic rock-I can thank and blame my father for that. From Led Zeppelin to Jimi Hendrix to Creedence to Nirvana, it was this kind of music that was blasting all around the house, making it impossible to not want to jam out. In time, I discovered another love for rock/reggae-being introduced to Damian Marley, Sublime, Dirty Heads, etc. has ranged my music taste. However, my 2 favorite bands of all time will forever be Incubus and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Favorite TV shows and/or movies: My favorite TV show is Adventure Time-Lumpy Space Princess is my idol! The Sandlot will forever be my favorite movie.
Favorite sports or sports teams: I not really into sports, but I like to skateboard. My favorite skateboarder is Tony Alva.
Favorite food: My favorite food is sushi. It’s the absolute best when having dinner with friends.
What’s your favorite place to eat? Any place that sells sushi.
What was your favorite cereal as a kid? My favorite cereal as a kid, and even now, would have to be Lucky Charms. I was the kid that separated the marshmallow goodness from the actual cereal and called it “a nutritious breakfast”.
